The 53rd annual June Fete, “Greetings from the Beach,” is a two-day event to support emergency cardiac care and heart-related community education and screening programs at the University Medical Center at Princeton, and several West Windsor and Plainsboro women have been instrumental in organizing the event. Pam Garbini of Plainsboro is co-chairing the event. Jill Zutty of West Windsor is organizing the musical entertainment for the two day program. The event begins on Friday, June 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a preview of the flea market, the art tent, lane of shops, children’s games, food vendors, and musical entertainment.
The annual gala follows at Princeton Charter Club, 79 Prospect Avenue, Princeton, from 8 to 11 p.m. With dinner and dancing with music by Line Drive, beachwear attire is encouraged. The event benefits the medical center’s cardiac care, heart-related community education, and screening programs. There will be a cash bar. Register. Tickets are $125.
The community fair opens fully on Saturday, June 10, with a live auction, a 10K race, games for children, flea market, art exhibit and sale, garden tent, foods, music, and entertainment. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. There is a parking donation.
Saturday events include food, beer, and wine selections trying to mimic what’s available “down the shore.” A first time activity is a family scavenger hunt. A live auction features antiques, silver, oriental rugs, furniture, jewelry, paintings, furs, and collectibles. The flea market features clothing, furniture, appliances, and household items.
The “Sports Alley” features China smash, soccer, basketball, hockey shoot, tennis, baseball, golf, and a dunk tank. There are games, sand art, face painting, an obstacle course, pony rides, paint twirl, and art activities in the children’s area.
The annual 10K race gives 600 runners a change to improve their times. The race end on Weaver Track. Register at www.active.com. The one-mile fun run for children begins at 9:30 a.m. on Weaver Track.
Entertainment features continuous music in three locations. Cafe performers include Briz, 11 a.m.; Jason Soudah, noon; Patty Cronheim Ensemble, 2 p.m.; Paul Gargiulo and Band, 3 p.m.; and Phyllis Heitjan and Band, 4 p.m.
Michelangelo begins the beer garden entertainment at 11 a.m.; followed by Hemenway at noon; Jill Zutty will perform with Mark Mullane’s band “The Misery Loves” at 1 p.m.; Matt Mead at 2 p.m.; Soul’s Release at 3 p.m.; and Shottafunk! at 4 p.m.
The children’s area has Best of Both Worlds from 9 to 11 a.m.; Call to Arms Fencing Club of West Windsor at 11 a.m.; Michael Ferenchick at noon, open mic project at 1 p.m.; Princeton Dance and Theater Studio at 2 p.m.; Rhythm N’ Balloons at 3 p.m.; and Zachery Allen at 4 p.m.
