Kalyet Blackwood-Chirchir, a junior at High School North, received “Le Prix d’Excellence” award from Princeton University’s department of French and Italian. Funded by the French government though the Center for Excellence in French Studies at Princeton University, the prize is presented each year to a junior who demonstrates excellence in French. Christopher McNulty of West Windsor received the Frances Chapin Award, the school’s highest award presented to a graduating senior at the Chapin School.
Jonathan Amira, a senior at High School South, was selected for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars. A regular performer in High School South’s fall dramas and spring musicals, this year he directed and performed in Senior One Acts and Pirate Players. He is also a second tenor in concert choir and a member of the National Honors Society and ASETS.
In his spare time, the West Windsor resident practices Tae Kwon Do at the West Windsor Tae Kwon Do Academy where he holds a black belt. Last summer, Jonathan was awarded membership to the American Legion Jersey Boys State at Rider University where he participated in the creation of a mock government.
Amira, who will attend Drew University this fall on a merit-based scholarship, aspires to major in theater, English, or political science.
