Color Wheel Kids have returned to the Plainsboro Public Library with an exhibit of paintings and drawings. The exhibit, that opened in conjunction with the Festival of the Arts, reveals the talents and dedication of a group of children ages 4 to 11 from Plainsboro, West Windsor, and neighboring towns.##M:[more]##
Throughout the summer and the school year, the artists gather in small groups for a two-hour weekly session at artist Kate Gaydos’ Sayre Drive studio. They work in acrylics, watercolors, pastels, pencil, charcoal, and collage.
“They use their inner vision, and that of the world that surrounds them, through a learning process in which the exploration of color, expression, line, drawing, and proportions, becomes second nature,” says Gaydos. “The children learn to make their own colors and for that reason they earn their name.”
This is the third consecutive year for the exhibit but this year each child’s photo is surrounded by their work so that viewers may sense each child’s individual level.
The viewer will be able to works of Yogini Borgaonkar, 6, Anh Nong, 8, Arianna (Ria) Sjamsu, 11, Aji Sjamsu, 8, and Tiffany Wang, 9, of Plainsboro; Scarlett Hanks, 5, of West Windsor; and Tan Mai Rao, 8 and Daisy Wu, 11; and the first serious attempts of this year’s beginners Carol Berner, 4, and Anna Xeinis, 6, of Plainsboro; and Sydney Schneider, 6 and Sophia D’Adamo, 6.
