Wawa is gearing up to open its first location in West Windsor Township on Friday, Oct. 4, and the store has some freebies lined up for customers who go there on opening day.

The new store, which is located at 3499 on Route 1, will bring Wawa’s well-known combination of fresh food, fuel services and convenience to area residents.

The grand opening will feature several festivities that highlight Wawa’s ties to the communities it serves.

The celebration kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where local residents are invited to join the store’s team, led by General Manager Rachel Tees, in officially opening the doors.

The first 100 customers to arrive will receive exclusive “In My Wawa Era” T-shirts, and free any-size hot coffee will be available throughout the day.

Guests can also look forward to the “Hoagies for Heroes” hoagie-building competition, a signature Wawa event designed to honor local first responders.

In this friendly rivalry, members of the West Windsor Police Department and the West Windsor Fire Department will compete to see who can make the most hoagies in three minutes.

The winning team will take home bragging rights, and Wawa will donate $1,000 to each department’s charity of choice.

In addition to celebrating the store opening, Wawa will continue its longstanding tradition of giving back to the community by presenting a $25,000 grant to Eden Autism Services, a local nonprofit organization with which Wawa has partnered for over 40 years.

The grant will support the renovation of Eden’s adult day center on Old Trenton Road, where individuals develop vocational skills for employment in areas such as retail, dining, and maintenance.

Eden Autism Services has played a vital role in helping Wawa establish its supported employment program, which began in 1981 with the hiring of an Eden-supported associate who remains employed by the company today.

The $25,000 donation is part of Eden’s broader 50th anniversary celebration, which will take place in 2025.

The new store in West Windsor is expected to create at least 35 long-term local jobs, contributing to the economic vitality of the region. Wawa has built a reputation for becoming more than just a convenience store in the communities it serves.

Each store supports local causes through fundraising initiatives and provides a welcoming space for neighbors to connect.

“Since our first store opened its doors 60 years ago, we’ve been proud to serve communities with quality products and, most importantly, offer comfort and camaraderie to local friends and neighbors,” said Chris Gheysens, president and CEO of Wawa. “As we continue to grow, we promise to fulfill lives at every new store, and we look forward to serving West Windsor for many years to come.”

Wawa’s new location in West Windsor will offer a wide range of amenities, including surcharge-free ATMs, free air pumps, fresh food options and fuel services. It will offer a variety of goods and services including made-to-order hoagies, freshly brewed coffee, breakfast sandwiches and an assortment of snacks.

Wawa has grown to more than 1,060 locations across the east coast in state including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Florida.
