Vote for Dana Krug

I strongly support Dana Krug’s candidacy for re-election to the West Windsor-Plainsboro Board of Education. I have known Dana for 11 years and worked closely with her when we served together as co-presidents of the Community Middle School PTSA. She has developed deep roots in the community, volunteering an extraordinary amount of time over the years within several organizations where she has befriended families with a wide variety of backgrounds and interests. Her broad exposure to different groups within the community has enabled her to speak on behalf of all children of the WW-P district.

Dana has made it a priority to listen to parents’ aspirations and concerns for their children, and her primary objective as a school board member has been to fight for every child’s right to receive instruction and services appropriate to his or her needs and interests. Behind every decision Dana has made as a board member is the following question: “How can we ensure that all students in the WW-P school district (even those `in the middle’) have an outstanding, individualized learning experience?”

Dana Krug’s focus on the children of WW-P has emboldened her to vote, on occasion, against the board majority. She forms opinions independently, backing her decisions with methodical research, community input, and thoughtful deliberation. As Dana has dutifully and admirably fulfilled her various roles on the school board, she has devoted the time and attention our children deserve from our elected leaders.

In her role as finance committee chair and as a member of negotiations committees, Dana has consistently sought ways to manage a shrinking pool of resources without sacrificing the quality of education for our kids. In everything Dana has done as a board member, she has attempted to shelter students from any outside pressure, financial or otherwise, that might compromise the instructional experience of WW-P students.

This past year I have had a chance to get to know Dana while walking. Over the course of many miles, we have had many discussions about our kids, youth sports, and education. It is clear from these walks that Dana is thoughtful and cares about the kids in this school district.

As a school board member, Dana has been committed to making the quality of the education at WW-P schools the best they can be. She is an advocate for each student and is concerned and dedicated to making sure all students succeed in this district. She has been involved in many decisions and has advocated fairly for students, families, teachers, and administrators. Her decisions are well thought out, considerate and straight forward.

I have had the privilege to work with Dana as a board member for the Community Middle School PTSA. In her role as co-president, Dana demonstrated great leadership and the abilities to handle complicated issues and to consistently listen to differing opinions and ultimately make thoughtful decisions. Her commitment to furthering the educational excellence provided to our students is always evident. Dana is keenly aware that providing each child with the tools to succeed is a complicated process. Dana is an advocate for differentiated learning, which helps to ensure that each student is challenged to succeed to the best of their ability.

Dana’s main concern has always been how to provide our students with an excellent education, while always being mindful of the board’s fiscal responsibility to the taxpayers. Her professional experience as a project manager for Dow Jones and her current position as the Board of Education finance committee chairwoman show that she is highly qualified to serve West Windsor residents as our representative on the board.

As with many of us busy parents, I first met Dana more than six years ago through our kids’ activities. One thing that was initially apparent was that Dana is present and involved in nearly every activity and event with which our children are involved. Whether it be a baseball game, dance classes, the basketball courts, or school plays, Dana is always involved in making sure that events run smoothly and that the experience for the kids is as enriching as it can be.

Over time, I have gotten to know Dana as a thoughtful, pragmatic person who is open to ideas and committed to making a positive impact on everything with which she is involved. Between her involvement with the school PTSAs, running a regional baseball tournament, and advocating for the town library, she is extremely active in contributing to the community.

As a mother of three children who attend district schools, Dana has a parent’s perspective and through her experience in her first term on the WW-P school board, she also has a direct understanding of the WW-P educational system.

These experiences, coupled with her professional background in contract negotiations and fiscal management, will allow Dana Krug to serve the school board well.

Dana has worked directly and effectively with students, parents and administrators. She is a tireless advocate for our children and the community as a whole and I am confident that she will continue to be an extremely effective member of the school board.
