The News’ August 12 story “WW-P School District Slapped with PIACS Lawsuit” easily took the prize for the most commented-on story at wwpinfo.com, with 90 comments in the two weeks since it was published.
Nestled among the typical nasty back-and-forth was a post by “anonymous” linking not only to the Facebook page of PIACS co-founder and spokesman Parker Block, but also to that of his wife.
Absent from the PIACS discussion was Quentin Walsh, a frequent critic of the school board. “WhereisWaldo?” wondered: “Where is Mr. Walsh? Where is he when our tax dollars are truly being wasted? Mr. Walsh why are you missing in action? Are you not worried about over $1 million in taxes going to this private school?”
“Anonymous” later posted: “Robert Johnson & Marathe Hermante are still in control. You can thank them for doing nothing but spend when they had every opportunity to help lower you taxes.”
WhereisWaldo attributed this comment to Walsh, and demanded further answers from him: “Rather than blaming Johnson and Marathe, Mr. Walsh you need to state where you stand on this issue. You have been complaining about taxes at each opportunity. Will PIACS not raise your taxes? If yes, then what are you doing about it? Your silence speaks volumes. You are only interested in settling score with the school board, not what is in best interest of the children.”
The story on Bobby Flay’s proposed restaurant in MarketFair generated comments for and against allowing it. Two commenters were opposed to the trees that would need to be cut down. “Protect our WW” wrote: “Tree slaughtering continues. Oh well, Mr. Flay doesn’t live here so what concern is it to him?”
Another writer concurred: “Why are we making all kinds of architectural changes for this redhead? A tower for a poo-poo burger joint? We don’t need this and don’t cut down our trees!”
Editor’s note: In a phone call after the News went to press, Quentin Walsh explained that he always uses his real name and as a rule does not comment on any issues anonymously.
