In response to Mercer County College’s continued work on its solar field project:
Who is working diligently to address the concerns of the public? Who are they trying to fool here? The college and county would like to make it appear in the public eye that they are addressing the concerns of the public when in fact their response to any and all of our questions, at least to the best of my knowledge, has been . . . . “we have put all this information up on our website.” They either shove everything off on their website OR give a vague answer like “don’t worry, that’s not going to happen.” We continue to have questions that have not been answered. We have asked for yet another residents meeting and were denied once again.
I’m not surprised at the county and college’s position considering our own county executive told my neighbor, Nicole Miller, “he didn’t consider this to be a residential area”. Excuse me, we are residents living here in this neighborhood, on this quiet residential street tucked in one of the most beautiful parts of our township and county.
I was shocked by that comment, but it clearly demonstrates how he feels about our concerns and the lack of respect we have been given. Phil Miller (executive director of the MCIA) continues to direct us to his website. Why direct us to a site that we have to navigate through to search for our answers? If he knows the answers and isn’t afraid to give them he should simply provide them or refer us to a certain page and paragraph.
If you take a drive down our streets you will see signs that say “shame on MCCC Solar Irresponsibility.” I believe that says it all.
President Donohue took a drive down our street several weeks ago in her Volvo station wagon and big sunglasses. I guess she caught wind of our signs and wanted to take a peek herself. I was walking my dog and tried to wave . . . but no response. She simply looked straight ahead as though she had blinders on. I guess that’s how they are going to plow through this project — with blinders on.
