Democracy and honesty and civility begin at home. And not only do I fear for our country, I’m worried about much closer to home.
If you haven’t already read it, I urge you to read the story in the Nov. 15 WWP News about the school board elections, especially the part about the letter in Chinese, which violated several laws about disclosure and went to many Chinese voters.
This “ganging up” against school authorities with lies and damaging statements to influence the unknowing population is dangerous.
Many of the statements promulgated by those opposed to our school board have been proved false, including the unhappiness of teachers here. We and the media need to tell the truth — repeatedly.
Not recognizing stress in one’s own children has led to heartbreak in the past. We should be grateful to our administrators for acting in our children’s best interests before more heartbreak arises.
Perhaps we need to ask the children themselves, those who are most involved, for their opinions.
Instead of the slogan we all heard until it was coming out of our ears (“make America great again”), we need our own slogan in West Windsor-Plainsboro.
How about, “let’s let the children play again.” Or, “more fun, less work.” Or, let’s have a contest for our own school area slogan. But we do need to save our children.
