I have known Rakesh Kak and his family for the 15 years we resided in West Windsor. During that time Rakesh served with me on the Le Parc Homeowners Board of Directors, where I held a seat for 14 years.
I always found Rakesh to be a good balance of professional, sensible, family oriented, and always had the ability to get the job done. Our board functioned successfully due to the fact that the prime initiative was the good of the development and not the good of the individual. One example of his negotiation skills was exhibited during our 2009 contract renewals with Brickman Landscaping. Through a successful bidding process Rakesh was able to achieve a 20 percent savings for our development.
Another prime example was the 2010 Post Prom for High School South. The security committee was short of individuals to host the event. I had reached out to Rakesh, asked for his participation, and together we stood guard all night at the event. He did not even have children in the high school at that time but was still willing to step up, when he was needed.
I could not think of a better, more committed candidate for school board. Rakesh will openly appraise the situation, think clearly, and find the most efficient solution to get the job done.
Rakesh Kak will be a welcome addition to the West Windsor School board, and I strongly encourage everyone to vote for him.

Over a year and a half ago I met Rakesh on a frigid winter day as we trudged door to door on behalf of a candidate. You gain insight into a person’s character when you spend eight hours going door-to-door together, especially in the cold. At that time he struck me as a dedicated volunteer: full of enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to listen and then do what it takes on behalf of a cause. After our first shift as we came in from the cold, he generously treated me to a cup of coffee, and as we chatted I was intrigued to discover that he was a West Windsor resident who heads to Wall Street on a daily basis.
The more I knew about him, the more impressed I became. Rakesh graduated from the elite IIT engineering school in India, the cream of Indian society with an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York, and yet his focus was on what he could do for his local community. He told me that his wife was very active as a volunteer in West Windsor, so he was just trying to keep up with her!
You could tell that he was proud of his children and that he was genuine in his support of the “Whole Child, Every Child” policy that provides equal opportunities in curriculum and programming for all students in our district to help them realize their potential.
I believe that West Windsor has a candidate who will put his knowledge of finance, community organization, and volunteer experience to good use on our school board as a team player. We have the genuine article in Rakesh Kak! Please join me in putting him on our school board!
