West Windsor is fortunate that Richard Kaye, a School Board member with nine years of experience, has decided to run for another term on the board, and I encourage residents to support him with your vote.
Though our times on the School Board did not cross, Richard and I served together on the district’s Strategic Planning Team and have consulted on various issues since. From my experience, he has always been intelligent, fair and thoughtful in his decisions, with no personal agenda. Richard brings a wealth of experience in education, with more than 40 years as teacher, principal and consultant, to the board table. He is also retired, and as a person on a fixed income is quite cognizant of the impact of taxes on our residents. As a result he is one of the best kind of candidates we could hope for-someone who knows where to spend the money to be effective while understanding the impact on the community of every dollar spent.
The question of experience is very important in this election. More than 50 percent of the district’s principals, assistant principals, and Central Office administrators have retired in the past 18 months as a result of potential changes at the state level. Only two Board members, Richard, who currently serves as vice president and curriculum committee chair, and Board president Tony Fleres, have more than one term on the Board. An awareness of the past history of the district, and well as an understanding of the issues the Board has dealt with in the past decade, will be a valuable resource to the Board and the district in the next three years. Richard has these, as well as an ability to listen to all, a collaborative working style and a commitment to both students and community tax payers.

Richard Kaye brings a unique combination of educational experience and fiscal prudence. As a former educator and current retiree, I understand the importance of both. Among his numerous attributes:
• Richard has consistently advocated reducing per pupil cost below the state average, while maintaining a triple A bond rating for the district.
• Under Richard’s tenure, WW-P schools have achieved the highest rating and are among the top districts in both the state and nation.
• Richard was very much involved in the long-range planning of the new addition of the Village School, at no cost to the taxpayers.
I firmly believe Richard represents the finest example of a person committed to excellence in public education and that we will continue to benefit by his continued presence on the Board of Education.
