Dear West Windsor Residents,
Have you ever woken in the night to the sound of a siren and wondered who is suffering some accident or trauma? Have you ever thought about who those people are who never fail to show up when there is life-threatening crisis?
I have. And a few times in my life, our emergency responders, our firefighters saved my life. Once when I was five months pregnant, I took a walk in the neighborhood and suddenly felt short of breath and passed out. Our township emergency responders and fire department came immediately and took me to the hospital, thereby saving both my life and my unborn baby. For that, I am forever thankful.
I recently showed my support for our fire department by participating in a fun-filled family fundraising event last Saturday, November 1, at the Princeton Meadow Church at 545 Meadow Road. Organized by volunteers of West Windsor residents, there were performances by our school children, community musicians, singers, and dancers.
The goal is to increase awareness in our community, particularly for new residents, of the fact that our fire department is a 100 percent volunteer organization. The safety they provide is hinged on our community donations. West Windsor has a very bright future with a growing population that is ever more diverse. In order to insure our own protection and wellbeing, we need a well-funded fire department — especially in these uncertain times of increasingly severe storms etc.
Thanks to all who join us and contributed to this fund raising drive, which will help insure our front line firefighters are well equipped to safeguard our entire community.
