Chromebooks are a catastophe

I am appalled at the fact that the members of the Board of Education do not say one word to the Administration regarding the catastrophe of handing Chromebooks to 2nd graders.

Haven’t you read all the data regarding the importance of writing with a pencil? Haven’t you read the research regarding the importance of having a strong relationship between student-teacher? Why do you think it is a good idea to do it in the public school system when the private schools are not doing it?

Private schools are teaching with books, writing on paper, teaching cursive writing and having teachers teach when a student does not understand a math problem and not tell them to, “watch a video.”

Is this why Mr. Aderhold wanted to dismantle A&E?

Is this the idea of clusters? Have you talked to high school students and asked them how they feel about Option II? How they feel about the new study hall being in the theater with other hundreds of students where no one can get anything done?

Mr. Powell and Mrs. Ho, as you know I have been going to the BOE meetings for over a year, I have not heard you once say anything against the administration.

On Sept. 13, you voted in all the curricula changes that the Curricula Committee recommended. Do you know what those changes are? Do you even know what you voted on?

Why do you want to run again for BOE? The only thing you do is to rubber stamp what the administration says. Not once you have stood for the community! Not once you have told the administration this is enough and will not be tolerated. What will change in the BOE if you get voted again! Nothing! With the two of you it will be more of the same and more Chromebooks for younger students!

I guess you do not care because you do not have young children! The two of you as well as Fleres, Kaish, Krug, and the rest of the BOE are just in love with the idea of power. You do not respect the students. If not, you would be voting against Chromebooks.

Mr. Aderhold, Mr. Smith and Mr. Dalton, it is very clear you do not have the best interest at heart for our students. It is clear, even when reading the rankings Mr. Fleres read one set of rankings (which do not mean anything if the variables of how these where computed are not given) and at the same meeting a parent read another set of ranking where puts High School North 22 in NJ and 387 in the nation and High School South 27 and 421 in the nation. Now we have the video of the BOE meeting of Sept. 13 to corroborate what I am saying, so there is no “she said” “he said” any more. Therefore, I am very skeptical of the rankings Mr. Fleres read.

Mr. Aderhold you should be ashamed of yourself for not putting students first and only thinking of making a name for yourself and dancing to The Gates Foundation tune.

Shameful!
