Simply Fitness founder and owner Gail Williams is a personal trainer and coach for women.
By combining personal fitness training, nutritional consultation and holistic healing in an encouraging environment, she helps women achieve their health and fitness goals, including losing weight and gaining confidence.
Her mission is “to motivate, educate, and create a sense of independence toward all aspects of fitness so that your best body, health, and lifestyle are achieved.”
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from The College of New Jersey, Williams worked for Bloomberg Financial for 14 years. The job, she said “didn’t settle my soul.”
She took a part-time job at Allied Fitness as a personal trainer, realizing she would have to quit her full-time job in order to follow her passion. At the time, she didn’t training was a realistic career option, but she followed her instincts and left Bloomberg in 2005.
Now, Williams is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. She earned her Master of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania. Her accreditations are from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She continues to educate herself on the current trends in the field through attending conventions and other events.
Over the past decade, Williams noticed a shift in the needs of her clients. As the food industry changed, she noticed the quality of food was diminishing. There are a lot more processed foods, and diabetes and other health issues are rampant. In the beginning, her clients’ goals had a “focus on body aesthetics. Now it is on saving lives.”
Now that spring is here, Williams offers exercises classes for women held in the pavilion in Cadwalader Park. The 45-minute classes are called Simply Fitness: Tight and Toned in the Park. All fitness levels are welcome. They are $8 each week, and start at 7:15 a.m. They run rain or shine through June 6. Cash, checks, and PayPal are all accepted.
Williams will also hold Zumba classes some evenings in June at Cadwalader Park. More information can be found on her website.
“My passion is helping individuals see a goal for themselves,” Williams said.
She works with people one on one or in a partner setting out of her home studio.
“I specialize and customize what individuals need based on their goals,” she said. “No matter where you are, it all starts in the mind by making the decision to change and sticking with a plan. Regardless of how little or how extreme you want that change to be, no one else can do that for you. Once a commitment has been made, that is where I step in to assist my clients.”
Williams looks at every aspect of her clients’ lives: eating patterns, dietary habits, flexibility, fitness levels, and your daily life.
She works with clients to improve their functional fitness and muscle strengthening for everyday movement and incorporate exercise and proper nutrition into their daily routines and creates individualized plans for them.
“Strict diets do not work, that is why I create a program that incorporates some of your favorite foods,” she said. “It is about modifying your eating behaviors to improve overall health.”
During the initial meeting with Williams, her goal is to get to know her client, to learn about goals, eating habits, daily routines, and medical history.
She wants women to be comfortable with her. She is available via phone, email, and text messages.
“You are not alone,” she said. “Whether you need a personal trainer, Pilates or Zumba classes, resistance training, nutritional consultation, or holistic health coaching, I am ready to help you reach your health and fitness goals right now.”
