People have mixed feelings about dental exams and visits.
At Rane’s Exclusively Yours Dental, the staff is seeking to change that by making dental care easier, more accessible and more affordable with accommodations, a relaxed atmosphere and new programs and services.
Owner Janhavi Rane, general, sedation and cosmetic dentist had always lived in Plainsboro and wanted to get involved in the medical and dentistry fields. She always had hopes of owning her own practice.
After completing her bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, she underwent dental training at New York University. She completed her residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and attended Harvard School of Dentistry.
When her schooling wrapped up, a position in the Plainsboro Shopping Center became vacant. Rane took advantage of the opportunity and started her practice, now 8 years old.
Rane’s Exclusively Your Dental performs general dentistry services for children, adults and seniors.
Rane said she enjoys being a member of the community. She currently serves on the Township of Plainsboro Human Relations Council, is a member of the New Jersey and American Dental Societies, is president of the Mercer County Dental Society and recently received an honorary International fellowship for Dental Facial Aesthetics.
“I’m very comfortable in this area because I’ve always been here,” she said.
Two years ago, she opened up Rane’s Dental Aesthetics across the street from the Plainsboro Shopping Center. Rane’s Dental Aesthetics is an extension of her practice that provides dental specialty services like orthodontics, periodontics, Invisalign, implants and cosmetic and sedation dentistry.
“Our goal is to have a one-spot destination for patients of all phases of dentistry,” said Rane. Rane’s Dental practices take in patients from throughout the area with a variety of needs, concerns and even phobias, but the professionals on hand are prepared.
“I love seeing my patients every day,” said Rane. “I don’t want anything to discourage people from going to the dentist.”
To help patients with fears, the practice offers sedation dentistry with their on-staff, board-certified anesthesiologist, which makes some customers feel more at ease, she said.
Although Rane’s dental practices do participate in most insurance plans, they offer their own dental insurance plan as a solution for small businesses operating in the area who cannot afford it or are unable to provide it for their employees.
The dental practices have also newly acquired a velscope and offers oral cancer exams. The velscope is a new technology that uses a light to tell normal cells from abnormal cells, detecting the cancer.
Rane’s Exclusively Yours Dental located at 10 Schalks Crossing Road in Plainsboro. Rane’s Dental Aesthetics is located at 11 Schalks Crossing Road in Plainsboro. Both operate by appointment during office hours on Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
