The Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Community Development Fund (PRCC-CDF) has awarded $30,000 in grants to four local nonprofits at the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Luncheon held on November 5, 2015.
The 2015 grant recipients include:
Crisis Ministry of Mercer County for their Workforce Development and Self-Sufficiency Program: Whether experiencing food insecurity, facing eviction or another housing crisis, or seeking assistance to find employment, neighbors who turn to the Crisis Ministry during a time of need will find a welcoming, positive atmosphere. This grant will support direct aid and service provided through the job training, job search, and driver’s license assistance that make up their workforce development program and support our mission to promote financial self-sufficiency and stability.
Latin American Legal Defense Fund for their Jobs Mercer Project: The Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc. (LALDEF) defends the civil rights of Latin Americans, facilitates their access to health care and education, and advances cross-cultural understanding in the Mercer County area. The grant will support the first phase of development of Jobs Mercer, a program to connect qualified unemployed and underemployed low-income workers.
YMCA Princeton for their Princeton Young Achievers Program: The YMCA has been central to the Princeton community for over 100 years. The funding will provide support for the Princeton Young Achievers program, Princeton’s only after school homework assistance and enrichment program working to improve the school performance and academic skills of 75-85 economically disadvantaged youth in Princeton.
Every Child Valued for their Rising Above Expectations After School Program: Every Child Valued provides educational enrichment programs in cooperation with Lawrence Township Public Schools and other organizations in order to establish high expectations and achieve excellent academic performance. The funding will support Rising Above Expectations, a component of the Every Child Valued After School Program, that serves at-risk middle and high school students in Lawrence Township throughout Mercer County.
The Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce established the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Community Development Fund in partnership with the Princeton Area Community Foundation in July of 2013 with a $500,000 gift from the Chamber Foundation to benefit nonprofits located throughout the Chamber’s five-county, central New Jersey footprint.
