In October 2013, Complete Health and Chiropractic Center moved from one side of Franklin Corner Road to the other. The change was small in distance, but huge for the business’s expanded services.
In 1999, Dr. Jeffrey Clancey opened Complete Health and Chiropractic Center in Yardley, Pennsylvania with Dr. Rich Berkowitz. In addition to the Yardley location, which still remains in business, Clancey decided in 2003 to open an office location in Lawrence Township. Ten years later, he and his staff moved to their current location at 136 Franklin Corner Road.
“We needed more space because we wanted to expand our services,” Clancey said.
The goal at the new building is to be able to offer complete wellness. To Clancey and his staff, complete wellness includes chiropractic services, physical therapy, massage therapy, personal trainers and classes in yoga and Pilates.
“We strive to make people independent of us and healthy and knowledgeable about their own bodies,” Clancey said. “Yoga is the perfect way to maintain the release they get through our chiropractic and physical therapy services.”
The move to the 7,500-square foot location brought them to a facility with new equipment, ample parking, more space and big windows. A big addition to the new space is the separate studio room.
“We have a beautiful yoga studio with bamboo flooring and natural lighting,” Clancey said.
Since the move, Complete Health has expanded the number and variety of classes, and hired more instructors.
Lawrence resident Romy Toussaint is the head of the Complete Health yoga studio. Toussaint has been involved in the health and fitness field for more than 30 years, and her passion for yoga comes through in all aspects of her life. She began practicing yoga in 1992 using a Brian Kest Power Yoga video. Her classes combine music, poetry, dance, and hand-on assist while emphasizing proper alignment.
The studio offers classes in a variety of yoga styles, ranging from beginner to advanced levels, for all ages. Classes offered include Back Care Yoga, Chair Yoga, Core Yoga, Gentle Yoga Therapy, Hatha Yoga, Hot Vinyasa, meditation, Pilates, Pilates Flow, and Pre- and Post-natal Yoga. Complete Health also features special events, including trips and special classes. In February, Complete Health and Chiropractic Center plans to offer special Sunday afternoon classes in Yin Restorative Yoga. Also scheduled is a romantic Valentine Partner Yoga class on Friday, Feb. 13, an all levels class which will also include food, wine, and chocolate with yoga.
“We are different from other chiropractic and physical therapy places,” Clancey said. “We have a high level of expertise. When people come in here for chiropractic services, they receive a thorough exam. We have state of the art technology. We work with local physicians and make appropriate referrals, and the local physicians make referrals to us because they know they will get safe, effective care.
“Our physical therapy care is different, too. We have an individualized approach. Our whole philosophy on caring for people is respecting them.”
Part of respecting patients is limiting their wait time and having a staff that is friendly and helpful, Clancey said.
“They are trying to help you get better. We respect you as a person, and we fulfill our obligations to you.”
Clancey grew up in Hopewell and is a Lawrenceville School alumnus. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, and Master’s degree in Sports Health Science from Life University School of Chiropractic in Atlanta, Georgia. He specializes in athletic injury from youth to professional levels. He is designated as a Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (FACO). He is a board certified Chiropractic Orthopedist.
