Robbinsville Township Mayor Dave Fried
Mayor Dave Fried is set to present a 2013 budget that includes a 2-cent tax cut per every $100 of a home valued at $381,000, or $76.20, to the council Feb. 14.
The tax cut is part of Mayor Fried’s goal to stabilize Robbinsville’s taxes. Mayor Fried said the 2013 budget is influenced by the sale to Amazon.com and KTR Capital Partners, who plan to build an order fulfillment center at the Matrix Business Park at 7A.
“The revenue came in thanks to the Amazon.com deal and we didn’t spend it, we used it to reduce taxes and pay down our debt,’’ Mayor Fried said.
The mayor said construction of Amazon.com’s plant will result in a $22.1 million windfall over the next 20 years for the township, its schools and Mercer County. Approximately $650,000 of that revenue is realized in the form of rollback taxes this year.
“Robbinsville has become a vital economic engine in Mercer County and everyone in our town will reap the benefit of reducing taxes, trimming our debt and still maintaining a high level of service,” Mayor Fried said.
The mayor worked with Business Administrator Joy Tozzi, Chief Financial Officer Deborah Bauer and all of the department heads to draft a that cut costs and generated ratables.
“This is a responsible budget that lives up to the promises we have made,” Mayor Fried said, “It is a budget that not only provides relief this year, but also lays the groundwork for possible stabilization in 2014. It is a budget that focuses on our strengths, our needs and invests in the future of our Township in 2013 and beyond.”
He is set to present the $21, 949,450.09 budget at Thursday’s Township Council meeting inside the court trailer beginning at 7:30 p.m.
