Students, staff, faculty, parents, Project Site Superintendent Ed Roche and Headmaster Richard Johnson all participated in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Chapin Lower School.
This fall, Headmaster Richard Johnson and other school officials welcomed returning students at Chapin Lower School with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to honor its new improvements. The ceremony marked the successful completion of the second and third phases of Limitless Futures: Investing in the Children of Chapin, a two-year multi-phase $13,000,000 construction project managed by V.J. Scozzari & Sons, Inc.
The 13,300 square foot Lower School includes four new classrooms, a science lab, a library with a technology center, offices and a large commons area that will provide teaching and learning spaces for Chapin students enrolled in Pre-K through fourth grade.
The Middle School was also re-opened, debuting new heating and air conditioning systems, a roofing replacement and extensive interior improvements in hallways and classrooms. A former library space was also renovated and converted into a choral room to support Chapin’s burgeoning music program.
All of these improvements were undertaken with strict adherence to the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) requirements for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
Headmaster Richard Johnson, wrote in describing the work “To you and all the good people at Scozzari, please accept our genuine appreciation for helping to make this happen. On time and on budget, it just doesn’t get any better in construction.”
