Tom and Diane Avanzato of Avanzato Jewelers are a husband and wife team that compliment each other perfectly.
Tom is a 1981 graduate of the Gemological Institute of America, a master goldsmith and a certified appraiser, while Diane has years of retail and accounting experience. When they were married 26 years ago, they brought their skills together. Through the years, they have worked together as a team in business and in raising their children.
At Avanzato Jewelers, Tom, Diane and their staff look to combine expertise and knowledge with top-notch customer service. They say their goal is to treat everyone with respect, and provide exceptional personalized customer service.
“Our staff is knowledgeable,” Tom said. “We know the answers to our customers’ questions, or we can get the answers for them. We go above and beyond for everyone. We are committed to helping our customers find that perfect gift.”
Tom looks to put old-world hand craftsmanship and an eye for aesthetics to use when he makes custom jewelry, which is one of Avanzato Jewelers’ specialties.
“We do a lot of work others don’t know how to repair or replace,” Tom said. “We also make a lot of hard-to-make wedding bands.”
“People bring us items that other places say they cannot do, and Tom can do it,” Diane said.
Avanzato Jewelers also provides while-you-wait repairs. All repairs are done on premises, with the exception of pearl restringing and watch movements. Avanzato Jewelers offers this with the aim of providing peace of mind for customers.
Tom always wanted to be in the jewelry business. Upon graduating from the GIA in 1981, he opened Studio Jewelers, a jewelry repair shop in the Chambersburg section of Trenton. Six years later, he opened his first retail store, also in Chambersburg. In 2001, Tom and Diane moved Avanzato Jewelers to their current location in Hamilton Square.
Tom and his staff’s expert knowledge with precious metals extends to coins; American, Colonial and Pre-Colonial Industrial precious metals; sterling silver, place settings, silverware, tea sets, candlestick holders, trophies and more. They said they offer the highest prices guaranteed for these items.
Tom also is one of the only certified appraisers in the Mercer County area and can provide information needed for homeowners’ and renters’ insurance.
Charms, bracelets, rings and pendants, as well as men’s and children’s jewelry are just some of the items Avanzato Jewelers have on display in the store. Their store is located at the corner of Whitehorse-Hamilton Square Road and Route 33, near the Shop Rite.
