The I Am Trenton Community Foundation will open a new round of Downtown Neighborhood grants tied to New Jersey’s upcoming 250th anniversary, with applications accepted from Jan. 17 through March 1.
The 2026 Downtown Neighborhood NJ250 Grant Round will accept applications in both English and Spanish. Grant guidelines are available in both languages at iamtrenton.org/grants/downtown-trenton.
Since 2014, I Am Trenton has partnered with Isles Inc. to provide neighborhood-based grants funded through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit program, which supports resident-driven revitalization plans.
The Downtown Trenton Neighborhood grants support community projects, arts and culture, beautification efforts, and business development within the downtown area bounded by the Assunpink Creek and the Delaware and Raritan Canal, commonly described as “Creek to Canal, Route 1 to Old Barracks.” Funded projects must take place within those boundaries and directly benefit residents of the area.
The 2026 round expands the eligible area beyond previous grant cycles that were limited to the Old Trenton neighborhood.
Projects connected to New Jersey’s 250th anniversary will be given priority. More information on the statewide commemoration is available through the New Jersey 250th Anniversary initiative at visitnj.org/nj250.
All applicants are required to attend a technical workshop before submitting an application. Workshop registration is currently open, and applications submitted without workshop attendance will be deemed ineligible for funding.
