Trenton will host the Revolutionary Mile, a 1.5-mile team race through historic downtown streets that combines athletic competition with American Revolutionary War history.
The event, which is organized by the Trenton Downtown Association, is set to be take place on Thursday, Oct. 16.
It offers two participation options: a fast-paced running competition for teams seeking the best combined time, and a reflective “Historic Footsteps” walk with storytelling prompts at heritage sites.
The race course winds through cobblestone streets and past historic landmarks, with yellow umbrellas marking sites of Revolutionary War significance. Participants will check in at 4:30 p.m. with the race starting at 5:30 p.m.
The Revolutionary Mile targets corporate teams, community groups, colleges, high schools and government offices as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations. Each participant receives a $10 gift card for use at participating downtown Trenton businesses.
“Whether sprinting for glory or walking in the footsteps of Patriots, every participant plays a role in honoring the past and shaping downtown’s future,” event organizers said in promotional material.
The Revolutionary Mile aims to transform downtown Trenton into what organizers call “a living museum of motion” while activating local commerce and highlighting the city’s pivotal role in American history.
The Trenton Downtown Association, a nonprofit established in 1986, organizes the event as part of its mission to revitalize New Jersey’s capital city through community collaboration and civic pride.
The organization focuses on making Trenton an ideal business location and engaging destination for workers and visitors.
