Princeton String Academy was founded in 2005 by Paul Manulik, violist and violinist. Mr. Manulik has a long history of string performance and musicianship; first growing up in a family of musicians in Wisconsin, with accomplished players in five instruments — piano, cello, string base, violin and viola — and earning a master’s degree in Viola Performance.
Subsequently, he held two long-term positions with the Cedar Rapids Symphony, Director of the School of Music and Assistant Principal Violist. This dual career path offered him the unique and invaluable benefits of knowing both sides of the business — educational and performing — both equally important for the development of fine musicians.
After moving to Princeton, Mr. Manulik founded Princeton String Academy to offer the community a unique learning environment, one that focuses on string performance and yet offers the services and programs of a larger music school. These services include private and group instruction and performance, twice yearly recital performances, competition training and support on the local and national levels, among other programs.
Our teaching is premised on the Suzuki teaching method (www.suzukiassociation.org) which offers a natural learning environment premised on how children first learn to speak a language. According to Mr. Manulik and attested to by student performance in string competitions, “Our unique and multi-faceted learning environment enables our students to achieve top performance levels.” Students take top prizes in local and state competitions and are regularly selected for state and national youth orchestras, among other accomplishments. At Princeton String Academy, we strongly believe in the ability of all students and work individually with each student to achieve his/her greatest potential. Our faculty and staff reflect our high standards of professionalism and musicianship.
Our String Teaching Faculty. We currently have six teaching faculty, four for violin and viola and two for cello. Our teachers are widely sought after as they come with the highest teaching credentials, including degrees from the best music conservatories or universities, and are dedicated to teaching in a positive manner. See website for staff bios (www.stringacademy.net).
Schedule & Tuition. Our academic year follows West Windsor and Princeton public school calendars, with 37-38 weeks of private lessons. An eight-week summer schedule is also offered. Tuition is based on the length of the lesson, i.e., 30 min, 45 min or 1 hour. Tuition entitles each student to all scheduled private lessons and two solo recitals per year. Ensemble classes are an additional fee. Payment is due quarterly. A free trial lesson is offered for prospective families.
As a bonus, all students are invited to play in local charity performances at malls, senior centers, historical sites, church bazaars, etc. Our Quakerbridge Mall Christmas Concert is a favorite!
