Small World Coffee to celebrate 20th anniversary

Small World Coffee is set to celebrate 20 years of serving java in Princeton on Dec. 22.

The coffee shop opened its doors in Princeton on Dec. 22, 1993, when coffee houses were just beginning to pop up on the East Coast.

After a year-long search of college towns throughout the United States, founders and co-owners, Jessica Durrie and Brant Cosaboom, honed in on Princeton.

Over the years Small World Coffee has grown both horizontally and vertically while still remaining close knit and small.

In 1995, Durrie and Cosaboom started their sister company Small World Roasters, a coffee roasting business, with longtime friend and employee Jonathan March

Small World’s Witherspoon Street location has also grown. In 2001, the owners took over the neighboring print shop when it went out of business. The expanded space increased Small World’s capacity to serves it’s growing customer base.

The owners opened a second location on the north end of town next to the Nassau Street Seafood Company in 2006. This café houses their kitchen and is primarily take-out. The kitchen offers a short order breakfast menu featuring their breakfast sandwich called the Pile Driver, Gringo Breakfast Burrito and the Loxed and Loaded Bagel Sandwich. The Nassau Street location also has outdoor seating.

In 2010, Small World Coffee on Witherspoon underwent a major renovation, which allowed the café to continue to refine its service.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Small World Coffee is planning fun festivities to show their gratitude to their loyal customers. The celebration is scheduled for Dec. 22.

The celebration is scheduled to kick off the morning of Dec. 22 Princeton High School String Quartet is set to perform from 8 to 10 a.m.

Small World’s Anniversary Celebration Party is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. The party features live music from Chris Harford and the Band of Changes. The Nomad Pizza Truck will be onsite.
