Small World Coffee has a motto: “Support your local everything.” That ethos is the driving force behind a new Artist Pop-Up series at their Nassau location, to be held on select days throughout May and June. These one-day-only sales invite community members and visitors to shop directly from local makers working in paint, ceramics, vintage, stickers, pins, tees, totes, and more.

“Supporting local creatives has been at the heart of Small World since day one,” says owner Jessica Durrie. “Whether it’s art on the walls, music in the air, or a pop-up full of handmade goods, it brings life to our cafés and reminds us of the incredible talent in our community. Thirty-one years in, and it still makes everything better.”

Vendor Nook & Fern kicked off the series in April with a treasure trove of sourced and handmade home decor, followed by painter and former “Worlding” Jacqui Alexander with mini-paintings at affordable prices. In early May, local consignment boutique Crow and Teapot sold new and gently used clothing and accessories.

Shoppers can look forward to opportunities to support this initiative and the artists behind the work this spring. A schedule of Nassau Artist Pop-Up is as follows:

May 29: Off the Chain Studios. Off The Chain Studios is a permanent jewelry company that offers custom sized and personalized clasp-less jewelry. Pieces get welded on for the perfect fit. Offering more than 150 chains and more than 100 charms, there is something for everyone.

May 31: Nightbird Vintage. For more than 30 years, Nightbird Vintage has offered a wide selection of vintage clothing 1960s to 1980s and more.

June 12: Yardsale Press. Using bright, bold, and fun designs, Yardsale Press is a compilation of screen prints on paper, hand-cut and screen printed wooden drink coasters, pins, and tote bags. They aim to bring art into people’s homes at an affordable price point.

June 14: Minako Ota. Visitors to the pop-up will find a vibrant selection of original artwork, art prints, and a variety of artist-designed goods including tote bags, t-shirts, notecards, and more.

June 25: Nook & Fern. Nook and Fern is a handmade and curated shop centered around the home. They offer one-of-a-kind creations, antiques and vintage finds. A few of their handmade items are unique dried floral arrangements, charcuterie and cutting boards and home textiles. They also search all around for fun vintage finds such as glassware, pottery, and other curios. Their hope is to inspire you to create a cozy nook with unique pieces that share a story.
