Robbinsville schools open preschool registration for 2026–27

·

Robbinsville Public Schools has opened registration for its 2026–27 preschool program and is encouraging families to apply early, as available seats are expected to fill quickly.

The free, research-based preschool program, now in its third year, is open to Robbinsville children ages 3 to 5 and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis until all slots are filled. A waitlist will be created once capacity is reached.

Class sizes are capped at 15 students. The program is funded through New Jersey’s Preschool Expansion Aid, a statewide initiative that supports the growth of public preschool programs.

District officials said the program has produced strong academic results in its first two years.

In the program’s first year, about 25% of three- and four-year-olds began the school year below expectations in literacy and math. By June, 94% met or exceeded literacy benchmarks and 98% met or exceeded math benchmarks.

“This level of growth is remarkable,” said Dr. Lori Burns, the district’s director of early childhood education. “We’re proud of what we’ve built, and we’re always happy to collaborate and share best practices.”

Burns said the state Department of Education has identified Robbinsville as a model preschool program, with other districts visiting to learn from its implementation.

The program also emphasizes family engagement, with monthly parent sessions shaped by a family needs assessment completed during registration. Topics include challenging behaviors, toileting, and ways to support learning at home.

Parents are also invited to participate in classroom activities, including cultural sharing opportunities, read-alouds, and end-of-unit celebrations.

“It is very impressive what our preschool program has been able to achieve over just a few years,” said Robbinsville Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Patrick Pizzo.

“I encourage all families in the district with preschool-aged children to strongly consider this educational opportunity for the 2026–27 school year,” he said.

The district will host preschool open houses in January, February, and March to allow families to tour the program and learn more.

Comprehensive information, including a virtual classroom tour, is available through the Robbinsville Public Schools website and the district’s preschool program page.

Upcoming open houses include Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Families must register in advance by emailing the date and time they plan to attend to registration@robbinsvillek12.gov.
