“Yes Sir No Sir This Way That,” an exhibit by Princeton Day School faculty member Thaddeus Erdahl, will be on view at the Anne Redi ‘72 Art Gallery from Jan. 12 through Jan. 29. An opening reception is scheduled for Jan. 16 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
After receiving an M.F.A. in Ceramics from the University of Florida, Erdahl worked as the artist-in-residence and program manager at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Erdahl is currently an artist-in-residence at the Arts Council of Princeton and a visiting artist at Princeton Day School. He is represented by the Obsidian Gallery in Tucson, Arizona, and the Signature Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ceramic sculpture and portraiture are Erdahl’s preferred forms of visual narration, which he uses to represent what he sees in human nature. Erdahl’s subjects are often evocative of old, treasured toys and obsolete artifacts, allowing viewers to detach from the present and conjure their own narratives.
Jody Erdman, Gallery Director, says of Erdahl’s work, “his manipulation and mastery of ceramic materials is only trumped by his ability to accentuate the human condition in both humorous and menacing ways.”
