Schenck Open House Promises Fun, Education

I want to remind everyone of a delightful holiday event that will take place on Saturday and Sunday, December 5 and 6. The Schenck Farmstead Historical Site at 50 Southfield Road will have its annual open house during the afternoons that weekend, and everyone is invited free of charge. West Windsor Historical Society members will be giving tours of the beautifully restored farmhouse, decorated for the holidays. Farm implements of the past, all part of the wonderful agricultural heritage of our township, will also be on display.

The old schoolhouse will be open, too, and you will certainly be impressed to see how our great tradition in quality education had begun even during Colonial times. After you see the barn and talk with people who farmed here in West Windsor (including members of the Schenck family), go down to the other end of the barn and visit the new Environmental Education Center, with its exhibitions of wildlife and “green” living!

I would be very happy to see every West Windsor resident go to the open house, even if it means that the Historical Society will run out of cookies and cider. (I plan to get there early, before they run out!)
