Poor Drivers + Poor Roads = Tragedy

I read with great sadness, anger, and disgust the story of the car/pedestrian accident involving a three-year-old child.

While I acknowledge that there may be mitigating circumstances surrounding this accident, I am guessing it was caused by careless driving. I am very familiar with the area of North Post Road where the child was hit. The design of the road is one that lends itself to speeding as drivers try to gain one car length by passing other cars on the right.

Cell phone use, medicated drivers, poor road design, and inadequate protection from cars all make for very dangerous and often deadly conditions on too many of our roads. Until these issues are addressed, lives will continue to be lost or forever altered.
