The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is set to host the New Jersey Walk4Hearing on Sunday, October 18, 2015 in Mercer County Park.

The walk serves to increase awareness about hearing loss, help to erase the stigma associated with it and raise funds for programs and services. Groups and individuals can participate in the 5K walk so that people of all ages—from babies to seniors—can get the programs, support and services they need to meet the challenges of hearing loss.

The 5K route will start and end at Mercer County Park. Event features include children’s activities, refreshments, giveaways, prizes and state-of-the-art hearing technology including captioned Walk announcements delivered via smartphones.

The New Jersey Walk4Hearing is one of 21 events happening across the nation this year. Since its launch 10 years ago, the Walk4Hearing series has steadily gained momentum by raising more than $8.6 million, welcoming over 67,000 walkers, and creating partnerships with over 200 alliances. It is the nation’s largest and fastest growing hearing loss fundraising and public awareness walk in the country.

The Walk4Hearing was created in 2006 by the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) to raise awareness about hearing loss as a public health issue and to eradicate the stigma associated with it. The Walk brings together a wide range of groups including parents of children with hearing loss, aging baby boomers, young adults, and returning veterans. HLAA is the nation’s leading consumer membership and advocacy group for the 48 million Americans challenged by hearing loss. Funds raised by the Walks in major cities support educational programs and services, and critical national and local advocacy work. For more information, visit hearingloss.org.

Pre-register for the walk at walk4hearing.org. Same-day registration is also available.
