Lemonade for a Good Cause

My kids have been jumping into the pool and out of it almost every single day. They have been riding their bicycles and going to their T-ball lessons. Of course there is some academics involved — I do not want Matthew to forget everything that he has learned during the year at Mini Explorers, and I am getting my twins ready to start Pre-K in September.

Which actually brings me to the point that I want to make.

I am very lucky that I have three wonderful and very healthy children and that they can enjoy their summer, but there are some very unfortunate children that are very sick and they have cancer.

Cancer has been a big illness in my family. My father passed away from colon cancer, and both my mother and my father-in-law passed away due to this illness. My brother-in-law at the present is in remission, but he also has cancer.

I was devastated when I lost my dad, so I cannot imagine what some parents may be going through having a child sick, lying in a hospital bed waiting for a test result or trying to cheer their kid that is about to have a major operation that may or may not save his or her life.

It is in that spirit that I am inviting you all to join me in my efforts to make Alex’s Lemonade Stand a success on Saturday, August 15, from 2 to 6 p.m.

West Windsor and Plainsboro are very wealthy communities, and I know that we can raise the $2,000 that can be used to fund one week of research to find the cure for childhood cancer.

If, through our efforts, we can help a doctor save one life, then raising $2,000 has been peanuts in the joy that we can bring to that family and future families.

Please stop by on Saturday, August 15, at 41 Galston Drive from 2 to 6 p.m. and enjoy some lemonade!
