Bad Intersection Needs 4-Way Stop

I would like to use your paper to alert the Council and the Pedestrian Cyclist Alliance in West Windsor about a bad intersection in town.

The intersection at Scott Avenue and Alexander Road near the 3 Brothers Pizzeria is a very dangerous intersection because the red brick pavement at the intersection gave the pedestrians and cyclists the impression that we have the right of way. Yet, most of the motorists are zooming through the intersection with no consideration of the possible pedestrian or cyclist crossing.

I recommend that we have a four-way stop sign at this intersection.

Furthermore, I would like to suggest that West Windsor township consider an ordinance to double the fine and penalty of any incidents and moving violations in town that involve pedestrians and cyclists. It takes a lot more conviction than painting several cyclist lanes on our roadways for West Windsor to be considered a green or cyclist-friendly town.

I would rather see the name of West Windsor splashed over the front page of local papers as the most pedestrian and cyclist-friendly town than for West Windsor to be called the town with the highest per capita rate of pedestrian and cyclist incidents.

I don’t think we should care if the ordinance may inconvenience out of towners who are using the Princeton Junction train station without any consideration for town folks who walk or bike to the train station or just walk about town. If we can inconvenience enough out-of-town motorists, perhaps we don’t need another expansion of the parking facility and can focus more on the commercial viability of the project at the Junction train station.
