It’s better late than never for Robbinsville’s new QuickChek.
The gas station and convenience store, located at 255 Robbinsville-Allentown Road near Interstate 195 interchange 7, will make its debut Tuesday, Jan. 22. The opening has been delayed several times from its original Labor Day 2018 target. The township announced the project in mid-April 2018, with construction beginning shortly thereafter.
The Robbinsville location is the company’s first new store of 2019, and its ninth to open in the past 12 months. It will be open 24 hours a day, and has 16 fueling pumps to go with a 5,496-square-foot convenience store. The facility also has eight electric Tesla charging stations, Robbinsville Township community development directory Hal English said in a September 2018 interview with the Robbinsville Advance.
QuickChek designed the convenience store with a new “Fresh to Go” concept, with more than 50 percent of the store dedicated to fresh food and beverages. It will offer grab-and-go food items, as well as made-to-order sandwiches, soups and baked goods made in-store. It has indoor seating counters, with phone and laptop charging stations and free WiFi. There is also covered outdoor seating.
All patrons will receive a free large QuickChek hot or iced coffee from Jan. 22 until Feb. 3, one of several promotions QuickChek is offering at the Robbinsville store during its first weeks. In the same time period, 6-inch subs are $3, smoothies and specialty drinks are $2, and empanadas are 2 for $3.
QuickChek also has committed to donating $0.25 for every sub, sandwich and wrap sold in the store from Jan. 22 until Feb. 21 to Robbinsville Little League.
A press release from QuickChek says the new Robbinsville store has created 50 new local jobs, including eight management positions. Each new QuickChek location typically generates approximately $1 million in tax revenues, the release said.
