More than 150 volunteers are set to gather at Amalfi’s Restaurant & Bar in Lawrence this weekend to participate in one of the largest national head-shaving events for cancer research.

The annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation charity event raises money and awareness for childhood cancer. This year marks the 11th anniversary of the St. Baldrick’s event, and the Lawrenceville location has become the largest charity event in the tri-state area.

The cumulative fundraising of this annual turnout has surpassed $1.1 million, according to a statement from the foundation. Headed up by local chiropractors Michael and Melissa McCue, this family-friendly day involves a program to honor children affected by cancer, the ceremonial shaving of heads, an awards presentation, music, face painting, a photo booth and restaurant fare.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 10 from from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Amalfi’s Restaurant & Bar, 146 Lawrenceville Pennington Road, Lawrence.
