Lawrenceville gymnasts win gold at regional competition

Lawrenceville athletes representing the Motion Gymnastics trampoline and tumbling team competed at the USA Gymnastics Region 6 championships in Martinsburg, W.Va., May 17-18.

With 495 competitors from 36 schools across eight states taking part in the event,

Katie Prikril and Nikki Pawar of Lawrenceville competed against 495 gymnasts from eight states. The pair collectively won three medals in individual competitions and teamed up to win a bronze in synchronized trampoline within their age group.

Prikril tumbling routine earned the highest score among all Level 1-9 competitors; she took home a gold medal in the Level 9, 11-12 age group. Prikril made the Regional All-Star Team as the 10-12 year old tumbler.

Meanwhile, Pawar won a silver medal in tumbling within the Level 9 age group and scored a bronze in trampoline Level 9.

The pairs’ four medals were among 33 total medals earned by the Motion Gymnastics team over the weekend.

The girls plan to compete in the U.S. championship in Louisville, Ky.
