Jewish Choral Festival set for Feb. 22

Sharim v’Sharot is set to present the 8th Annual Mercer County Jewish Choral Festival on Sunday, Feb. 22 at Adath Israel Congregation.

Sharim v’Sharot is a non-profit organization dedicated to performing and educating the public about Jewish music.

The program, “A Tapestry of Time — A Symphony of Sound” will feature over 100 singers from six synagogues and community choruses.

Sharim v’Sharot’s Scholar-in-Residence, Mark Zuckerman, will discuss his involvement with Yiddish choral arrangements and the challenges he has faced communication facets of Jewish spirit, culture and experience through music. Zuckerman has been called the foremost choral arranger of Yiddish song alive today.

All of the singers present will sing his arrangement of Mikhl Gelbart’s composition “Ikh Bin A Kleyner Dreydl,” (“I Am A Little Dreydl”) and Itsik Manger and S. Beresovsky’s “Dolye Mayne, Dolye” at the end of the concert.

Zuckerman’s lecture begins at 2:30 p.m. and the concert will follow at 3 p.m.

Admission is free, however there is a suggested donation of $10 to Sharim v’Sharot.

Adath Israel Congregation is located at 1958 Lawrenceville Road in Lawrence.
