Stewards of Children education sessions to teach abuse prevention

Education sessions about prevention child sexual abuse are set to begin in April.

The program is based on child abuse prevention organization Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children curriculum.

Through Stewards of Children, D2L aims to increase knowledge, improve attitudes and change child-protective behaviors, as well as teach adults how to react to an abuse situation responsibly.

Sessions are conducted as part of of Kyle Bennison’s Eagle Scout project in coordination with the Hopewell Valley YMCA.

Bennison’s goal is to educate at least 125 individuals on child abuse prevention.

The first session is scheduled for 3 p.m. April 23 at Timberlane Middle School’s Eighth Grade House Center, 51 South Timberlane Drive, Pennington.

The session is set for 3 p.m May 3 at Hopewell Valley Senior Center, 395 Reading St., Pennington.

The final sessions are set for 10 a.m. June 15 and 22 at Titusville United Methodist Church, 7 Church Road, Titusville.
