Four Princeton University Chess Club students spent the day instructing Lalor Elementary third, fourth and fifth graders on the fundamentals of chess Jan. 11.

Principal Jennifer Marinello worked with the Princeton University chess team to orchestrate the event.

“The game of chess teaches critical next-step thinking and team building skills necessary for our students to be successful in their future endeavors,” Marinello said.

The U.S. Chess Trust donated a dozen chess boards and an instructional easel for students’ use during the event.
