With Pomp and Circumstance, 55 students marched into Kisthardt School to celebrate the end of their elementary school days during the Moving Up ceremony on June 19.

In addition to handing out graduation certificates to fifth graders, school principal Suzanne Stevenson presented awards in several categories.

Nayeli Franco received the Principal’s Certificate for achieving the highest cumulative academic average in the fifth grade. She is also a member of the Safety Patrol, the H.O.P.E. group and the band.

During the ceremony, Stevenson read a letter from President Barack Obama congratulating the winners of the President’s Award for Educational Excellence, which included Nayeli Franco, Kayla Girau, Brad Wedzi, Kylie Zarzecki, Gabrielle Hindermyer and Nicole Santivanos-Pozos.

This year, Kisthardt School had a record number of students who achieved perfect attendance. These students are Terrell Hemphill, Auner Valle-Rodriguez, Lauren Peterson, Christopher Lewis, Ricky Jean, Jeffrey Crespo, Gabrielle Hindermyer, Cassidie DeForges and Elysia Ortiz.

Other award categories included Pillars of Character, Honor Roll, Safety Patrol, Science Fair, and H.O.P.E. Group.

Students performed musical numbers Onward and Dream Your Dreams, under the direction of music teacher Anna Reeves.

After Principal Stevenson presented the Class of 2013, students reminisced about their Kisthardt days while watching a slideshow.
