Hamilton Township Council candidates tell us who they are

In a town like Hamilton, politicians—for better or worse—are newsmakers.

While they may be prominent and their names familiar, people like the eight candidates for Hamilton township council aren’t always known for their actions outside politics.

But if what a person does says a lot about who they are, then who exactly are the people asking for Hamilton residents’ votes in November? And what do they do when they aren’t on the council dais or vying for a seat there?

Hamilton Post writers have tried to figure it out by featuring an aspect of each candidate’s life away from politics.

The series kicks off this month with features on Republican incumbents Ed Gore and Dave Kenny and Democratic challengers Dan Keelan and Joe Santo.

The final four council features—on Democrats Nina Melker and Tennille McCoy and Republicans Dennis Pone and Ileana Schirmer—will run next month.

Then, in the fall, we’ll turn our attention to the mayoral race, and the vision each candidate for municipal office has for Hamilton’s government.
