A 10-year-old boy from Hamilton is helping local people in need stay warm this winter.

Max Frost is collecting coats for Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Drive, Burlington Coat Factory’s annual coat drive. Max has collected more than 500 coats so far this year, and he hopes to donate a personal record of 700 coats before the drive ends on Monday, Jan. 22.

His mom, Tammy Frost, said Max first heard about the coat drive while watching an episode of Good Morning America in 2015. He was watching the morning talk show to see his favorite soccer player on TV, but a segment about the coat drive inspired Max to get involved.

“Max decided he wanted to help in some way,” Frost said. “He started designing boxes and putting them in a few local businesses.”

Max began collecting coats from neighbors, friends and classmates, and Frost spread the word about her son’s drive on social media. He collected 170 coats his first year, and 530 coats last year. He was even featured in a Good Morning America segment last year about his efforts to collect as many coats as possible.

Burlington Coat Factory partners with K.I.D.S. / Fashion Delivers and Good Morning America to host the annual coat drive across the nation. The organizations donate the coats to local organizations within each community.

Frost said collecting coats for people in need has had a positive impact on her son. “Until two years ago, he never realized how fortunate he was to have a winter coat,” she said.

Coats for Max’s drive can be dropped off at the two locations below through mid-January. For more information about the Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Drive, visit burlingtoncoatfactory.com.
