Annual golf outing to support Nottingham scholarships

The eight annual Alfred G. Doan Memorial Golf Outing is set to support scholarships for Nottingham High School athletes.

The outing honors Nottingham football player and coach Alfred G. Doan, who passed away due to aplastic anemia July 29, 2006.

To date, the Alfred G. Doan Memorial Fund has awarded more than $25,000 to graduating seniors attending a two or four year college.

The even features a best ball scramble format, lunch, and awards dinner. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest and straightest drive and the top three finishing foursomes. There is a $25,000 for a hole in one.

The outing also includes an auction with sports memorabilia, door prizes, and a 50/50 drawing.

The golf outing is scheduled for Aug. 4 at Old Yorke Country Club, Chesterfield. Registration is set to begin at 10 a.m., a shot gun start is set for 12:30 p.m.

Tickets are $135 and include a round of golf with cart, lunch, and an awards dinner after the outing.
