A 34-year-old man was hospitalized after he was shot late Saturday night in Ewing Township, police said.

Officers first responded to reports of gunfire on the 100 block of West Farrell Avenue around 10:30 p.m., according to township police. When they arrived, they found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and hand.

A short time later, officers were alerted to additional gunfire in the 1300 block of Sylvia Street after a shots-fired alert in the area.

Police began investigating whether the incidents were connected, including a possible link to an earlier encounter near a nearby Wawa, where the victim may have initially been struck, according to preliminary reports.

The man was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where officials said he was listed in serious condition. No updated condition was immediately available Sunday.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified, though authorities have not confirmed a homicide investigation. Police said the motive remains under an active investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ewing Police Detective Luis Martir at 609-882-1313, ext. 5682.
