Liberty Lake Day Camp is set to offer American Red Cross courses.

The American Red Cross program is designed to teach participants how to better recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies.

Additionally, instructors explain how to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

Courses include instruction in delivering CPR, administering first aid and using automated external defibrillators.

Liberty Lake’s Red Cross authorized instructor Samm Meddaugh said more than 70 percent of all cardiac and breathing emergencies occur in the home when a family member is present and available to help a victim.

According to Meddaugh, taking the course can prepare individuals for such emergencies.

The next course is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 7.

Liberty Lake Day Camp is located at 1195 Florence Columbus Road, Bordentown.
