Community garden open for business

The Bordentown City Environmental Commission and its subcommittee, the Green Team, have announced that Bordentown City’s first-ever organic community garden is now available for use by city residents. The garden is located on East Burlington St. opposite the Clara Barton School playground.To reserve a plot, residents must fill out an application that can be picked up at City Hall (324 Farnsworth Ave.), and return it with a check for $25 to cover common expenses, like maintenance and water. Gardeners provide their own tools, plants, seed, soil amendments and any other supplies. Plot size is 6 ft. x 11 ft. It is first come, first served, and you can purchase multiple plots if available. The growing season is from April through October.An informational meeting will be held on March 22 at 7 p.m. in the Carslake Community Center, 209 Crosswicks St. Residents will have the chance to ask questions and sign up for a plot at the meeting.For more information, e-mail bordentowncitygarden@gmail.com.
