The Old City Hall Restoration Project Committee train show will once again chug into Bordentown City, starting Nov. 24. The display will be held at Old City Hall, 13 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. The train display coincides with Bordentown City’s annual holiday tree lighting hosted by the Foundation for Bordentown Traditions, which is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 26 at 5 p.m.
The train show will run Nov. 24-26; Dec. 1-3, 8-10, 15-17 and 29-30; and Jan. 5-7 from 1 to 8 p.m. each day.
The OCHRPC sponsors the display that is brought to Bordentown by former mayor Joe Malone and former city commissioner Zig Targonski and his wife, Nancy Targonski, all long-time residents of Bordentown City who are model train collectors and enthusiasts. They have presented the show for about seven years.
Zig Targonski will display various trains from his extensive collection dating back to the early 1900s to present day. These include a large collection of G Gauge outdoor railroad trains, Standard Gauge trains and O Gauge Lionel trains. His layout now includes a third level platform of trains that was introduced in 2016.
Nancy Targonski and Malone will display HO trains and O gauge trains. Nancy has a new display—an Old West theme—in addition to her New England Village. Malone’s display is an O gauge Pennsylvania Railroad theme. Train lovers young and old will also be able to run Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends.
Sean Gerike will return with his Lego city and train display. New Jersey Free-mo, a group of model railroaders who construct, operate and display Free-mo HO scale modular layouts throughout New Jersey, will attend, as well as the Southeastern Pennsylvania/South Jersey Garden Railroad Society, which will exhibit at the Consolidated Fire House directly across from the Old City Hall train display.
The show will also feature door prizes and the Whistle Stop and Shop, which will sell sweatshirts, hoodies, John Bull Hats, note cards, umbrellas, Old City Hall party cups and more bearing the Old City Hall logo.
