The Bordentown Township Police Department is relaxing its clean-shaven policy this month. The department is participating in No Shave November — or “Growing for Gabe” — to raise funds for a local Bordentown teenager.

Gabriel Planas-Borgstrom is a 14-year-old freshman at Bordentown Regional High School who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Participating officers will make donations to grow a full beard, mustache or goatee and female officers will make a donation to paint their fingernails any color they desire. Officers are also encouraged to seek donations from family and friends.

All proceeds will go directly to the Planas-Borgstrom family to help with medical and travel expenses.

This initiative will culminate with a shave-off event at 6 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Jimmy’s American Grill, and 10 percent of the restaurant’s proceeds will also be donated to the Planas-Borgstrom family.

To donate, make a check payable to “BTOCF” and mail to: 272 Dunns Mill Rd., P.O. Box 162, Bordentown NJ 08505. In the memo section, mark the check: “Growing for Gabe.”
