Noah Hinsdale, 11, of West Windsor (right) is playing the part of Michael Llewelyn-Davies in “Finding Neverland” on Broadway. A fifth grade student at Princeton Friends School, he has previously performed in the Public Theater’s production of “Fun Home,” McCarter Theater’s “A Christmas Carol,” “Phaedra Backwards,” and “Nine”; and Kelsey Theater’s “The Secret Garden.”
The musical, based on the film, follows playwright J.M. Barrie as he finds the inspiration he’s been missing when he meets Sylvia, a young widow, and her four young sons, Jack, George, Michael, and Peter. Barrie conjures the magical world of Neverland and writes a play unlike any the high-society London theatergoers have ever seen. Cast members include Matthew Morrison, Kelsey Grammer, Laura Michelle Kelly, and Carolee Carmello.
Noah’s mother, Margie, is a physical therapist at RWJ Center for Health and Wellness in Hamilton. His father, John, is a software engineer working on an educational data platform. His younger brother, Jonas, is also a student at Princeton Friends School.
“His school has been very accommodating,” says his mother. “During the rehearsal period tutors were provided by the production and they worked with his teachers to make sure he was getting all his work done.”
“He is very energetic and managing quite well going to school during the day and doing shows at night,” she says. “He does not perform at every show, so he has time backstage during some of the performances to do homework and read. On Wednesdays he generally goes to school in the morning and then misses the rest of the school day since we take the train in to New York around noon.”
