Students from High Schools North and South will be considered for National Merit Scholarships. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring. Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition.
High School North students who were named semifinalists include Sriram Bapatla, Jonathan Chen, Steven W. Chien, Jacob D. Edelman, Roger Jin, Nikita Nangia, Sunket Nikam, Nikhil S. Phatak, Aditya Shastri, Dillon Sumanthiran, Sanjana Tewathia, Vishal Vijayakumar, Alan Xu, Benjamin T. Yang, Lucy Ye, and Jeremy Zhang.
High School South students include Dhruva J. Byrapatna, Kathleen Y. Chai, Sourabh Chakraborty, Richard Deng, Matthew Deslatte, Kevin Gao, Bharath Jaladi, William L. Jiao, Kunal Kak, Vyshnavi N. Khota, Catherine Lee, Victoria Liang, Matthew Y. Lu, Katrina Luo, Margarita Misirpashayeva, Elly R. Mixson, Michael Mu, Shivam J. Patel, Yanjie Qiu, Claudia Siniakowicz, Amy Tsai, Vishal R. Semifinalists are selected on the basis of scores on the PSAT standardized test.
