Forty-one middle school and high school students from WW-P competed at the New Jersey History Day competition “Rights and Responsibilities.” Twenty-two students were honored with special prizes and as qualifiers to the upcoming national competition.
Virginia Jiang of High School South received a special prize for her senior paper, “Freedom Fighters and Founding Financiers: An American Revolution between Economic Rights and Governmental Responsibilities.”
Ethan Glattfelder of High School South received a special prize for his senior paper, “The Man and His Mission: How Francis Liever and General Order No. 100 Altered the Course of the American Civil War.”

Joan Ruddiman, WW-P’s G&T resource specialist K-12, received the Educator of the Year award for her efforts on behalf of New Jersey History Day.
Sally Jiao, a senior at High School South, debuted a 10-minute documentary film she produced during the opening ceremonies. The film, “What is National History Day?” will be a resource for teachers, students, and parents interested in learning about the program.
