Anthony Piccirello of Plainsboro received the West Windsor-Plainsboro News scholarship at High School South. He will be a student at Rutgers University in the fall.
Born in New York City, Piccirello moved to Plainsboro seven years ago. His mother, Karon, a chef manager with a food service company, was seeking a good place to live with good schools. Her friends in New Brunswick suggested Plainsboro.
Piccirello is very sports-oriented. At South he played football for four years and lacrosse for three years. He also played recreational basketball and works out every day. He volunteered for Relay for Life and Special Olympics. His brother, Thomas, is a rising senior at South.
Brandon Johnson of Plainsboro received the West Windsor & Plainsboro News scholarship at High School North. He will be attending Monmouth University in the fall. Johnson was offered a scholarship for a five-year program culminating in a master’s degree in public policy.
At North, the six-foot-six athlete played basketball all four years and was on the varsity team the last three. Johnson is also working with Monmouth’s basketball team this summer and hopes for a chance to play on the team.
Also a cello player, he was a member of North’s orchestra program for four years. The trick to continuing to play is “finding the time to do it,” he says.
His mother, Vanessa, is a professional writer and field assistant with a research firm. His father, Charles, is a retired editor. His sister, Victoria, a graduate of High School North, 2003, received a degree in economics from Douglass College. She is working on entertainment endeavors.
